Abstract

Historical document preservation is a critical task for maintaining cultural heritage and ensuring the accessibility of invaluable records. However, over time, these documents suffer from degradation due to various factors such as aging, environmental conditions, and manual handling. Among the challenges in restoring such documents, degraded images with intricate textures pose a significant hurdle. In this study, we propose a novel approach for the restoration of degraded historical document images using image texture analysis. The proposed method leverages advanced image processing techniques and deep learning to address the intricate textures that often appear in degraded historical documents
